Magic Hours with Marti
I feel like with most careers, one is bound to go through seasons of heightened creativity and seasons where you're like "just give me the gdamn paycheck and no one gets hurt." Sometimes I WANT to work, and sometimes I want to be come a Real Housewife of Bend like those wealthy women who come into my coffee shop with 17 credit cards and they're like "hmm do I do yoga today or go shopping or fly to Spain?" Frick. FRICK! I'm trying really hard to not get mad at you, lady, when you don't tip me for your fancy ass drink that I have worked hard to learn how to make! Luckily, I shield you from my emotions fairly well.
I'll go to some barista counseling for all of this eventually. (Sidenote: I hope we baristas, as a culture, really do start to find some healthy outlets for learning how to process our customer service experiences instead of forgetting to use our inside voices and talking about them behind the counter with a FOH filled with other customers listening to us talk shit. Nope. Not okay! I'll never be comfortable with this!)
So, back to my original point: Work is often a reflection of where we're at on the INSIDE, right? Lately I've been trying to do the hard thing for me, which is just creating for fun. For life. To bless someone else other than my bank account! I texted one of my all time forever best friends, Marti, and knew it was time to do a REAL photoshoot with her.
UHhhMMMMMMmmmMM. She's probably the best model I've ever worked with. Did she know she would be? NOPE! Did I? NOPE! She's incredible, kind, and so brave to try new things just for fun in front of my lens! These were some of my favorite hours I spent last week. Enjoy her, HIRE her, and follow her on IG (@martimarie)
